History of Guardian and Half Moon
Hello everyone! With new people to the page, I thought today I would share a brief history of the relationship between stallions Half Moon and Guardian. We oftentimes share on the saga between these two as it has been ongoing for three years now. They came together in the spring of 2015 when Half Moon stole Guardian’s dam, Sumac from Granite’s Boy. Guardian was two at the time and with Half Moon only being five, he allowed the young colt to stay and be a part of the band. In the summer of 2017, Half Moon was badly injured just above his hoof and began to lose his mares to the now young stallion, Guardian. He spent the next several months trying to heal and by the spring of 2018, Half Moon had managed to take back his entire band. Guardian spent time running alone and with other bachelors through the rest of 2018 and into 2019 until April when he was able to steal Mare Freckles from Half Moon. Guardian kept her hidden in the area of the Park where he had once lived with Half Moon and all seemed well. However, in October of 2019, Half Moon took Freckles back and held her through the winter. Half Moon spent nearly three months last winter with Guardian following the band on almost a daily basis. It finally paid off for Guardian when he managed to steal Freckles again along with their new foal, Katie in the spring of 2020. After three years, one would hope that Half Moon would accept that Guardian has Freckles and move on. It would also be nice to give Mare Freckles a break from the back and forth. Hopefully, this helps you to better understand why some of us would really like to see Guardian and Freckles stay together and live their lives in peace. Below are a few photos of the two stallions over the last 5 years. I will write under each photo so be sure to scroll through. If you missed the post on Guardian, Freckles, and Katie prior to this one be sure to check that out as well. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
