Sidekick vs. the Bull Bison
Today, I thought I would share with you photos of 2004 Band Stallion, Sidekick and the day with the bull bison. I hiked out one morning and was photographing seven bands along the side of this butte. After a bit, I decided to walk around the butte to see Trooper and Xander. As I was headed around, I saw this very large bull bison making his way around the butte as well. I avoided him and walked over to the boys. After taking photos of them for a few minutes, I decided to go back to the large group of bands and see where the buffalo had gone. As I came back around, the first image below is what I saw. All of the bands had cleared out, including Sidekick’s own band, but he stood there and wasn’t moving. The bison and horses coexist quite nicely most of the time but for him to be able to move roughly 50 horses by just being there says a lot. It also says a lot about Sidekick. He may look small but he is big on attitude! Eventually, his band moved back over by him and he rolled without a care in the world. Below are a few photos from that day. Enjoy!
