Maddie and Aloe
Here is a win from the park that I believe we could all appreciate today. A few weeks ago, several of us noticed that mare Maddie was no longer with Maverick’s (Marty) band. She was also absent from any surrounding bands or bachelor groups. Given that she has been struggling with her weight for the past year, we were concerned that something bad might have happened to her.
Often, horses are not where we expect them to be. When we notice this, we can spend days, weeks, or even months searching for answers. If we’re fortunate, we discover that they’ve simply joined a different stallion. In Maddie’s case, however, it took time and a stroke of luck. I had already spent considerable time searching the area where Maverick’s band has been for weeks without success. Just yesterday, I was planning the route I would take to search the area where Maddie was last seen with the band.
Then today, by chance, she revealed herself. I initially thought she was a different horse while hiking out, so it was a wonderful surprise to find her! Not only was she safe, but she was also with Half Moon’s son, Aloe. Maddie has gotten away from the constant activity of Maverick’s band and found a peaceful spot with a very good-looking stallion. Today was a good day.
