A Second Look at Justice and Her Filly
Hello everyone! Many of you have written and been concerned about the new filly after our insane cold snap these past few days. I am happy to report she is still with us. Arrowhead’s band and several others moved to a new spot and luckily I was able to find them this afternoon to check on her. When I first arrived, she was taking a nap so I did my best not to disturb them so she could rest. While checking on the other bands nearby, I would occasionally look over at Justice. I have to say, she is doing an amazing job as a first-time mother. For at least 30 minutes, she stood over her little darling while she slept. Even when the others in her band began to walk off, Justice did not wake her to move on and allowed her filly to get some much-needed rest.
This week should be much warmer but we still may get some snow or rain on Wednesday. She has a long way to go but has a wonderful family looking after her. I do need to draw attention to one thing though. The horses are spending time in different areas of the park this winter compared to those in the past. They are not always visible from the road. Today, I had to hike six miles round-trip to locate them. We only have 2-3 inches of snow in most places so hiking has not been too bad in good weather. However, that may change and we may not be able to check on her as often. We will do our best but please bear with us as it isn’t always easy.
That being said, she appears to still be doing well. The sweetest thing happened when I went to leave for the day. I started to walk away but stopped and turned around to look at her and Justice once more and said goodbye. She stood there for about 5 seconds and I kid you not, she whinnied back at me. So you know she has now officially stolen part of my heart forever! I will bring you more updates on her whenever possible. Thanks for your support!
