Remembering Georgia’s Boy

It is with a heavy heart once again that we share the passing of one of our beloved band stallions, Georgia’s Boy. He passed away yesterday afternoon from natural causes in the only place he has ever called home. He remained a band stallion until the end, keeping a watchful eye on mare Shale and their adorable colt, Yates, whom they blessed us with last month.
Georgia’s Boy was a band stallion for many years and sired several foals, three of which are still in the park: Noelle (Magnolia), Finn (Tex), and Yates. He was a gentle stallion but could spring into action at a moment’s notice when needed. His long-time love, Whiskey, was taken by another stallion in his final years, but we will always cherish the memories of them together on the west ridge, watching over the park.
I want to leave you with one final memory of this remarkable stallion. On the morning Yates was born, Georgia’s Boy was standing on the butte above Shale, Yates, and the others. Even though he was in a weakened physical state, he proudly stood guard over his family to ensure their safety from a young bachelor stallion in the area. He showed strength, courage, and love until the very end, and that is how he should be remembered.
Please know that Shale, Yates, and Busy Blue are safe with stallion Finn (Tex). Also, thank you to everyone who helped keep an eye on Georgia’s Boy and his band this past week. Again, we were so lucky to have over two decades with this gorgeous stallion, but today that doesn’t seem long enough. Run wild and free forever, Georgia’s Boy, and know that you were and always will be loved.
