Wild Strength

Hello everyone! One of my goals this past week was to try and find Gunner and Perdita (Perty). After checking a couple of different spots and having no luck, they finally appeared. The temperature outside was in the 40’s so I grabbed my camera and headed out to see Gunner’s little family. After I hiked out to them, not only was I surprised at how dark Anisak is now but how big she is as well. It seems like only yesterday that Eileen and I were tracking her tiny little hoof prints in the dirt and discovered her and Perty tucked in a corner of the park. She and her mom went through quite a bit as soon as Anisak was born. They were separated from Red Face, walking all alone, and Perty was caring for her first foal while still a baby herself. When the numerous young stallions fought over her she did an extraordinary job of keeping her little girl safe. She deserves a lot of credit for doing so well this past year especially since she is only two years old! After all that, it is always nice to see them safe and sound settled in with Gunner. All three appear to be doing well and look ready for winter. Enjoy and have a great rest of your weekend!
