Cagney’s New Girls
Hello everyone. Today, I want to share a couple of different things with you. First, a little update on 2018 Band Stallion, Cagney. If you have been following the horses for some time, you will remember that he lost part of his band to stallion Bokel earlier this year. He did his best to keep Dolly and Bess but would lose them soon after, again making him a bachelor.
In the spring, what looked to be a puncture wound was noticed under his jaw. It did not appear to directly interfere with eating but may have contributed to his initial weight loss. He spent the next few months resting and gaining weight, and in September, he returned stronger and won Mare Patches and her filly Piper. He looks terrific right now, and it is so nice to see him again as a band stallion.
The second reason for today’s post is that Mare Patches and her filly Piper had not been with Cagney long before Piper went missing. Once we realized she was missing, around the beginning of October, we began searching. We had hoped she would appear with a bachelor, but that has not happened. I personally am not done searching for her, regardless of the outcome. I will place a photo of her and Patches below for reference for those visiting the park. If you see her, please reach out. Her picture is also posted in the ‘Whereabouts Unknown’ section under the Family Band Gallery on my website. As I said, I will continue to look, but the more eyes, the better. Thanks for the help!
