The Support of Family

Hello everyone! Tonight I have for you a look at this handsome eligible bachelor. This is Buster, the 2016 colt out of Ghost by stallion Gary. If you have been following this herd for a while, you likely know that Gary and Ghost were legends in this Park. Their last foal, Buster, was seven months old when stallion Gray Ghost stole the band from Gary. Mare Ghost went with Gary while Buster ended up with his sister, Gigi, and the rest of their family band. Ghost, one of the oldest horses recorded in the Park, and her longtime love Gary both passed away later that winter.
Buster remained with the band until the fall of 2019, when Grady took them from Ranger and, soon after, removed Buster. Since then, he has run with several other bachelors, including Wind Dancer, Anthem, and Cagney. I decided to add a few extra photos to this post of Buster over the years and a look at his amazing dam and sire, so be sure to scroll through. Enjoy and have a great night!

1997 Stallion, Gary – I took this photo in February of 2016. Back then, they didn’t always open the loop road in the winter months, so this was one of the first times I had hiked in from the fence line to find horses. I was lucky enough to find Gary and his band that day.

Gigi, a two-year-old at the time, helped her brother through his first winter after the passing of their dam and sire. The band was with Gray Ghost at this time.
