Horse Spotlight – Mare Thunder Rose

Hello everyone! It’s time again to feature another horse from this herd.

Today’s ?Horse Spotlight? is 2014 Mare, Thunder Rose. She is out of Mare Pale Lady by Stallion Thunder. She is currently running in Flax’s band. I first saw Thunder Rose as she was coming out of winter in 2015. She was still fairly small but she hit a major growth spurt that year. When I compared that first photo I took in April to one taken two months later in June and another in September, I couldn’t believe just how much she had grown. She gets her size from her dam, Pale Lady, who is one of the largest mares in the park. She has several half siblings still in the park today. Justice, of Arrowhead’s band, is her only full sibling and looks very similar to Thunder Rose.

In April of 2017, Thunder Rose was found with Stallion Flax. The two of them have had one foal together but unfortunately, he passed away. Below are a few photos of Thunder Rose over the last few years. I have also included the first photo I took of her in April of 2015 followed by one from June and one from September so you can see just how much she grew over five months time. Enjoy!
