Remembering Liam
Hello everyone. Today I will share with you all what I know about Lorena’s colt. Just to confirm, I was with the colt and the band on Wednesday. I observed him along with Park officials and hoped for the best. He may not have always been visible to every Park visitor, but he was alive. Yesterday morning I returned to the Park to check on him. I found the band first thing and Lorena was with them but her colt was not. They moved to several locations throughout the day and he still was not present. I searched the area the band had been in the day before for several hours and was not able to locate him. Since his condition was so poor and he did not appear in the hours I was there searching it appears he may have passed away. However, I have no proof to provide you with other than he was not with his family or in the area all day and the mother did not leave the family to search for him. I do not pretend to know what was wrong with him, but I do know from my observations that he fought like hell to hang in there this past week and I can only wish to be as brave as him.
We have decided to call him Liam as the meaning of the name means ‘strong-willed warrior.’ I can’t think of a better way to describe this precious colt. The photo below is of him and his big sister, Lorelye. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for this little guy and your continued love for this herd.
