Hello everyone! I have been spending a lot of time with Sidekick and his band in the last week. It always amazes me how dark he gets in the winter. His band seems to be doing well this winter. They haven’t spent as much time with Thunder as they did in winter’s past but instead mingling with a few of the other bands. Below are some photos from two of my most recent visits with them. I will write under each photo to help with identifying and to share a little more on each horse. Enjoy!
2014 Mare, Valentina – out of Snip’s Gray x Sidekick
Sidekick is one of the stallions that holds three gray mares. If you spend enough time with them you can tell them apart pretty easily. Pictured here is 2001 Mare, Snip’s Gray in the front and 2001 Mare, Bella in the back.
The third gray mare in the band is 2006 Mare, River. She is usually not this dirty lol!
2006 Mare, Escape – She has a mind of her own and is not afraid to do what she wants. That must be why she got out of the park for over a year. Maybe she needed a holiday 🙂
2001 Mare, Bella – Last year was the first time since 2004 that she has not had a foal. I am glad she had some time to take care of just herself.
2005 Mare, Mist – She is Sidekick’s lead mare.
